This is a 1965 Chevrolet, Chevelle,
Malibu Super Sport (SS) two door hard top. Came stock with bucket
seats, SS trim, 283 V8 and Muncie 4 speed tranny. Interior has
been replaced with factory original covers and is still in good
condition except for carpet which could use replacing.
Upgrades include disc brakes from 1970
model SS (there were no disc brakes available for this model/year),
Wheels are American Racing "Torque Thrust D's", a very
popular option in mid sixties. Engine was upgraded to a type
popular for this car, a 383 stroker. Block is a 1977 350 CI,
4 bolt mains. This run of blocks had the molybdenum alloy which
was known for strength and wear advantages. The crank is from
a 400 small block, cast. The motor was done by Ed Hale, a very
respected name in California. The heads are L98 corvette, alloy
with 58 CC chambers, stock valve sizes. Cam is mild Isky with
roller rockers. Intake manifold is a one off short track racing,
torque maker. Carbie is Holly 650 DP. Ignition is MSD. Exhaust
manifolds are cast iron stock type. Not the ram horn style. This
motor is low RPM, redline 5500. Makes good power right from 1000
RPM. The engine is in very good condition. All bores are good
with consistant and high compression. Oil pressure unchanged
since build. Has a rear stabiliser bar which is a real benefit
to the handling. Converted to right hand drive in 1995 with compliance
plate and RW.
Diff is posi traction with clutches,
3:08 gears. These are photos taken in 07. The body of the car
is straight and clean, no rust. Current paint is acrylic and
this is the original colour.
Spares.. new power brake and master
cylinder, rebuildable muncie box, headlight bezels and wheel
well "eye brows", spare carter 625 cfm carbie and other
stuff I forget. Boot/trunk looks near new.
Overall condition is good but ready
for work if wanted to be show clean. Has been a driver so chips
in paint from rocks and dickheads. If kept, I would cut the lot
back, make repairs and spray with clear polyurethane two pack.
The car is very very fun to drive. Has
been in family since 1981. |
