Notice that the boat is
still securely tied to the jetty. The piles at the Hinchinbrook
Marina were not tall enough for the surge. During Cyclone Larry
they got close enough to the top for real concern but Larry didn't
hit Cardwell smack on.

cyclone Larry and shows the exact street front shown in the photo

This is a road trip photo session. I
was on a mission to help friends in Innisfail post Larry and
took photos along the way.
Beachfront, Cardwell.
This was the end of the road until the
flooding abated. Eventually large trucks and 4X4's were allowed
through, one direction at a time as you needed the whole road
and surge from another truck on the road opposite direction would
have made it impossible.
A bunch of tired SES workers and a local
cop take a well earned break.
Here we go with a load of generators,
tarps and other stuff.
